AARRRRRRG! (Not the MacBook!)

I had an old version of iTunes that worked perfectly, and I went to use it today, while I was doing a Christmas letter (thank you Appleworks. . . Gonna have to talk to you guys about what replaced it, later!) and I didn't even have the "check for updates" checked, and darned if it didn't update itself; nothing came up except the new iTunes!  I know, I know. . . I can import the library again, but I do NOT like it doing things on it's own.  Can anybody explain to me why this happened?

Just to be clear, the "auto-updating" iTunes was on the G5, correct?

Is it possible that it was "operator error?" It's slightly different, but in Mavericks, the Notification Center switches labels on a notification concerning updates. You don't have a 'disregard/cancel/don't bother me' button. Instead, there is a "Install" and a "Remind me...(pick a short time period)" button. If I'm not careful, I can hit the "Install" button which is in the normal location of the usual 'dismiss' button! But you won't see that on a G5, of course!

Yep, you're right, Jim, it was the G5, and it's no disaster, but it took about 15 minutes to pull in the almost 7K tunes I've got, and adjust the volume, organize and do whatever.  I hadn't updated because I was afraid it might not run it, but it appears to be doing fine.

I finally got the MacBook up and running and reloaded with new software; now I have to get all my pics from iPhoto & Aperture into, and I'm hoping that it'll be able to read the old files, because there is 109 gigs of stuff in the pictures folder. . .
