Twice I've had deliveries left on the apron in front of the garage door. Don't they understand that people will get in the car, then open the door with the remote and back out.... oops!

Fortunately I drive slowly and  the first time I heard something and stopped in time. Now if I'm expecting something I always look in front of the door before even opening it.

Which reminds me of another similar problem. Why to people (oil delivery, UPS, etc.) leave notices or bills or even small packages hanging on the outside handle to the garage door? Where do they think it will go when the door is opened? Huh? Huh?  Then they wonder why the bill isn't paid or they get complaints about undelivered items. After a couple weeks of the missing item riding up and down it will often disintegrate or fall on the ground to be run over or blown away in the wind.

Obviously, you need to build a small (5 x 5 x 8 foot) "delivery house" on your property. No door, of course, just one of those heavy, split plastic sheets so there is no door needed to open and drop off your shipments. Of course, I'd also suggest a realistic looking fake camera on a 10 foot pole aimed at the entrance along with a sign pointing to it and an electrical line plainly attached warning about the dangers of touching electrified objects. BTW, build this 'house' as close to the street as local codes permit, no use making the delivery people walk half way to the Moon! And, if you get it close enough to the street, they can just slow down a bit and throw the box into the building! clap.gif You'll also need a real camera inside so you can see if there are any varmits in there chewing on the boxes... That should go a long way to paying for my LandPort, which I can then use for other, more distant neighbors. Of course, I'll only charge $50 a year if another ten sign up or renew the contract! FEDEX strikes again!!

Ordered ink from HP Store, got good % off and free 'next day delivery'.  
It was getting late in the day of delivery, today, so I checked the status of my order and FedEx tracking #.  Says my package was delivered about 2 hours ago!?!  I have been at home all day, but no doorbell or knock... Look on the front stoop and there it is...only been out in WAY BELOW freezing temps for those 2 hours...

Wonder if the inks have been frozen and won't function properly??
Looks like they tossed it from their van as they swooped past, or maybe this was a drone test delivery.

Emailed HP but don't hold out much hope there, and FedEx doesn't seem to want to be bothered with customer correspondence at all.

Our FedEx guy doesn't ring the bell or knock, either. I assume it's because most people aren't at home, any more (two adults working, etc.). But most of our deliveries are by UPS and that guy IS always the same one! Really a nice guy! He doesn't always ring the bell but he always honks! Of course, he also knows I'm usually here.

Then, there's the Post Office. Had a Signature Required delivery attempt a couple of weeks ago. No one home so we had a card in the box. It said I could pick it up at the PO after 3pm. When there and went to the end of the line and met a bunch of nice people. rolleyes.gif got to be number one in line and the clerk waiting on the lady who had been in front of me, yelled to me that I could just go to the 'special' door out in the lobby! I said, "Absolutely not, I've waited 25 minutes and I'm now at the front of the line! I demand my rights!" Well, that's what I should have said, instead, I replied that the special door had a sign saying it was only available from 8 to 10 am. The clerk said there was a blue sign on it now showing new seasonal hours.

Unfortunately, when I got to the lobby, I had to get into another line. And the sign was not blue, either!

Long story short, the driver was still out at 4:15, the clerk suggested I come back at 5. I did but it was not until 5:40 that I finally got my package! And that meant I wasn't home when the UPS man tried to deliver a box that also required my signature!!!! wallbash.gif

That "Landport" wouldn't have helped in that case, although FedEx (and I assume UPS) will allow you to sign a waiver to skip the signature part. rolleyes.gif

As for your ink, I doubt they froze. If they had, the carts would probably cracked/burst. Besides, that's not my problem! harhar.gif

We've had very few probs with either UPS or FedEx since we moved here. It probably helps that we know the normal drivers. tongue.gif

Both UPS and FedEx guys know us well, and they stop and come to or in the front door, as they LOVE Lilly and usually have a treat for her, or play with her if they are not in a rush.
But we are a tiny village.
Just have to keep her from jumping on everybody.

"Slightly" off topic...

Dad asked me to drop off a few last-minute Christmas cards at the post office on my way to my place this eve. When I pulled up to the two street-side drop boxes I couldn't believe my eyes.  Both of them were so stuffed that the envelopes and some small boxes were actually almost falling out of the opening at the top. They had been crammed so full that, if I were dishonest, I could have plucked out dozens of items and made off with them. It was dark and no one was around, maybe there is a video camera somewhere with night vision but that wouldn't necessarily prevent a lot of problems for those who had their mail stolen.

Long story short (yeah, I know, too late), since they were only cards and nothing with personal info,  I crammed Dad's cards  behind the others as far down as I could.  toothgrin.gif  

I imagine the ten people who drove up before me had the same thoughts and figured "Oh, what the heck, they're only cards."

Then again, there were some packages...  whistling.gif
