I think it's really dead now
« on: January 05, 2014, 04:47:31 PM »
Since I couldn't erase my old HD, I had to take other steps as I mentioned in my other post about the Apple Recycle Program.

I drilled the heck out of my HD.

Do you think it's "good to go" to recycling now?? Do I need to drill more holes in it, or in a different area? Thanks!

I take it you didn't consider putting the drive in an external enclosure to see if it actually still worked...? Granted, a 250 GB drive is small by today's standards, so it might not have been all that useful. I'm sure you had fun drilling holes in it! wink.gif

We like to do this and then again sometimes we take them apart and harvest the platters for wind chime components and the magnets in the heads to use to hang things onto the refrigerator or metal shelves!

I hope he had big buckets of concrete on that thing's feet! eek2.gif If it ever comes back to the surface, the authorities may be able to get his identity and he could be in deep 'water' himself! police.gif judge.gif

Or a fish might eat it. It was his stock market stuff on that one, so thats why he tossed it.
