Came in from the garden (sunny, dry - low humidity - 70F) for a cold drink and popped in to check emails. Tapped the space bar on the iMac and was greeted with a screen on which it was almost impossible to make out any detail. It WAS working, but not very well. It looked very, very dark and my immediate reaction was horror.

Then I noticed that there was a flicker of brightness. Then I noticed the screen brightened up when I moved my head.

Then I took off my polarised sunglasses....

WELL they work great for seeing fish in a nice clear mountain stream. Don't understand why they wouldn't work in the computer room.

So...how many of you have wandered around looking for your glasses, getting increasingly worried that you've left them behind somewhere...only to discover them perched on your head? My kids think this is hilarious.

Only the 27in iMac showed the "problem". Tried it with the MBP and could see the screen fine.

Put the iMac in a "nice clear mountain stream" and see if they work that way! Otherwise, I'd demand a refund on the glasses! Assuming you can remember where you bought them...

Tomorrow my wife will be driving about 90 miles to her folks house. My duty is to fill her gas tank while out running an errand.
Good event: I remembered to get her car keys!

Less spectacular event: When coming out of a store, I couldn't find "my" car... oh yeah, I didn't bring mine!

Another good event: I remembered how to get home... without the GPS!

That's happened to me more times than I care to admit. The worst, however, was years ago when I took my 3 week old Toyota to NYC to visit friends (my mother was all "What?? You're taking your NEW car to NYC? Are you nuts?") and we went to the Macy's in Queens, and since it was Sunday, we drove. The parking garage there is circular. We made a note of where we'd parked the car and off we went. Came back...and could not find it. It was the end of the day, and the garage was emptying fast, but we still could not find it. Around and around we went. Turns out we were a couple of levels off, of course, and we did find it. But for a good 20 minutes or so, I was absolutely convinced that my mother had been right after all and my brand new car had been stolen.

One more...

I usually park in the first row near the YMCA especially when the weather is threatening. A couple weeks ago I came out in the rain and clicked the unlock button on my key fob only to be surprised when the car did not flash its lights as it usually does. I tried it again, nothing. Damn, I thought, now I have to get a new fob battery, what a pain...well, I guess 9 years is pretty good for a little battery...now where is the key...

As I stood in front of the car balancing the umbrella and my gym bags while trying to separate out the ignition key, my eyes dropped down toward the license plate...

Not my car.

It was an exact duplicate, color, year, etc. parked three places closer than MY car. Sigh.

At least I didn't have to replace the battery.

We too had family friends who were married to identical twins, and oh, did they have some funny stories!

Also, the polarized glasses are fun, show people your screen with their glasses on, they laugh.
Ive been wearing polarized glasses forever, when we are boating or where the sun is bright. And long ago, I would take them off, hold them over my camera lens and get some pretty cool pictures. Look at the clouds and into the clear ocean! If you buy a polarization lens for your camera, it wont do what a cheap pair of pol-glasses will do.

Nobody would steal our old tanks, 4WD, old and full of dog fur.
Though there is almost zero car thefts around here.

4, I have a spam question to ask, but will do that tomorrow.

5, Summer has arrived and our entire family including dogs have been kayaking and having a ball, swimming in the ocean earlier than usual. Perhaps making up for that horrid winter we had.
