Repeating emails
« on: June 09, 2014, 10:11:49 PM »
Suddenly today we are receiving repeating emails from a number of sources ( including TS).
These arrive every 10-15 minutes, and are (or appear to be) an exact duplicate of the original. These are sent to our 'primary' email addy. This occurs to a random selection, but not all, of our inbound emails.
NO new software has been installed or updated in the past 4-5 days. We are using Apple's email on all affected platforms.

Any ideas or suggestions as to where to look would be much appreciated.

Bob, is this happening on more than one computer?

Is the mail POP or IMAP?

There is a fix from 10.6 mentioned here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2150014?tstart=0 but I don't know if it's relevant and if you're seeing this on more than one computer, or if your mail is IMAP, then something else is afoot.

Deletion of MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 from ~/Library/Mail/V2 solved the repeating mail problem for me.

Repeats began after installing Mavericks. I have POP account and Mail is set to delete messages from server immediately after they are downloaded to Mail.  It remains to be seen if this is a permanent fix.

The mail is POP, and yes we are seeing it on multiple computers/platforms... MBP & iMac using 10.7.8, iPad using 7.1.1, and an iPod Touch using 5.1.1...  All with latest, greatest, and uptodatest....

Now, this phenomena has stopped just because I posted about it....will follow up with the link provided but hopefully this was an ISP (Charter) problem that has now been corrected..

Oh sure! Blame the cable company... I think I heard that Comcast and Time-Warner had tied for the least liked companies in the world! But I'm sure that when they merge, all will be hunky-dory. wallbash.gif

I still can't believe the SEC will let that one go forward. It's as ridiculous as AT&T buying everything up again. However, it would seem that no lawmakers are willing to actually do anything other than wring their hands over it and express their "concerns."

As for least-liked, I'm sure Bell and Rogers here in Canada are way up there too. I'm actually reasonably happy with my Rogers services (we have everything with them - landline, cell phones, cable & internet) and their service has been good. I just wish I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for it - and that's after I bargain them down every year or two by threatening to leave for Bell. (a hollow threat, as Bell's satellite service is totally lame compared to Rogers' cable and at the cottage, the internet tops out at a measly 5Mbps for the same price as Rogers' 35 Mbps and a much higher bandwidth cap)
