LAN range
« on: June 26, 2014, 10:05:24 AM »
I am using a Cisco LinkSys wireless router for my LAN. Yesterday, a new LAN showed up in my wireless list. It's for a Honeywell wireless thermostat and they are not using a password. I checked with most of my neighbors and none of them have put in a new thermostat. My network is password protected.

How far away can these things be and still be detectable? Could it cause me a problem?

Not if your side is password protected (which you said it is). To find out who has the new thermostat, try setting the temp as high as it will go. Then watch for the air conditioner repair guy. devilishgrin.gif
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

Whoever owns it can't be THAT far away - the range is typically 50' and up to 100' for these thermostats.
