It was brought to my attention today by someone who has this model that theirs will no longer boot to OS9.
Is this a common occurrence and is there a work around?

thank you, thank you B)

Nice Elvis impersonation. smile.gif

No that's not common. Something is wrong.

First I've heard of this SB.

Kelly might have something. See what your friend says about them.

I’ll see if I can’t draw him out of the “view only crowd”, he’s has a custom built graphics machine, dual SCSI internal drives as well as a full deck of cards. He mentioned that it may be a hardware issue but I thought I’d run it by y’all and see if someone may have seen this issue out and about.

Funny you would say that Bill, he’s down here on the Sandbar for vacation and for the most part the sun has been behind the clouds sheared from Claudette.

I'm the 933 that won't boot into OS 9 any longer. When I purchased it last July and until maybe June of this year it booted into 9 without incident. It won't even boot into 9 from the original install CD or from another drive with 9 on it wether it is on a partition or on a separate drive. The permissions are always in repair and since I service others Macs in the Maryland area my machine is always kept in top condition. I have removed the entire deck of card mentioned by "mysandbox" no change. Reset the CUDA button nada!. I am almost exclusively running OS 10.2.6 with matching systems on three different drives, but some of the software that I need to reinstall needs OS9 to install correctly, otherwise I would have NO reason to boot back into 9.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Thanks "mysandbox" for turning me on to this site.

Welcome to TS olddog49.

Appears you've covered all of Kelly's ideas and then some.
Shot in the dark. A firmware issue maybe.?.

Head to the left coast olddog49 and SB. Bring a (((big bucket))) with ya to scoop up all the sun you want.
Got plenty overflow here. Won't miss any one bit. biggrin.gif

Thanks folks, to my surprise I see the old dog came out to play..... wink.gif
He’s on a single line at the beach and is probably trying to stay away from the computer as much as possible. Who can blame him given the choice of playing on the beach with the ladies or blinking at the pixels on a screen?

Kelly as far as I know he uses Epson printers and scanners both LARGE and small, not that they couldn’t be as culpable as HP’s, and I suppose your link will give him pause to consider them.

I couldn’t believe all the peripheral outlets that his computer had, I mean double cards in all the PCI slots and though he traveled light, without the associated hubs, the machine is a marvel compared to mine. The computer was at Apple for another problem and they couldn’t boot it either, which led him to consider a hardware issue.

Well I gave it a shot, he will probably live with it until he gets back and let Apple figure it out. He’s been with Apple since it was a sapling, so his hardware hunch is probably a good one.

Thank U Thank u wink.gif
