Virtual PC 2.1.3 Win98
« on: July 22, 2003, 04:54:04 AM »
wallbash.gif I got a copy of Virtual PC 2.1.3 Win98 to try it out before buying a copy for my self. I installed it on my C: drive, increased the max memory to 140megs with a min of 130megs. When I start the program, the window comes up then totally locks up, the mouse won't even move. I did a restart and it disable the idle wild extension and my Setiathome extension and my Logitech USB mouse did not work, had to use my ADB mouse. I removed the virtual PC preferences in the system folder and restarted and every went back to normal. clap.gif Is this a common problem? I got it as a image of the cdrom and it installed fine no errors.  did I do something wrong doh.gif ? Is there any thing I can look at, I got the image from a friend in another town, I am the lone Mac user for around 40 miles so you guys are my only source.

First. That's a pretty old version of VPC. I think they're up to VPC 5 now.

Second. We really can't help with "Borrowed" Software.

I don't know if there's a demo of later versions.

But that might be the way to go.

wacko.gif I got it working, I removed it from the hard drive and from the system folder. I then copied the image from the cd disc to the hard drive and repeated the installation including the update and now it works, even got on the internet using my SpurExpress modem, its just a 33.6 modem. I found several copies of Virtual PC on eBay so it looks like I might score one there, but first I will have to drive 40 miles to return the cd. clap.gif I like the performance of that program and reduce the number of machines on my desk.
