It all started in 1830 when Belgium was formed.
I guess i'm the only Belgian on this board, and the closest person involved (as a nation) is William (Holland and personal friend).
Still, i thought it was worth mentioning it here... always nice to have historic views biggrin.gif

Happy Independence Day!  I had no idea that you were once forced into union with Holland.  It's nice to learn about other countries.

Actually.... one of the only times i really feel proud about our country is thinking what kinda history we have.
We never conquered, but we always came out good.

 Beeeeeeeer biggrin.gif, chocolats, believe it or not but french fries are actually belgian, Belgian Endive (a yummie vegetable), sprouds (for some not so yummie veggetable).
Battle of the Boulge (WW2) and Waterloo (we defeated Napoleons's troops in the mud) and some historic cities (Antwerp where i live, Ghent, Brugge).
The Atomium maybe? Manneke Pis (a little bronse fellow that is peeing somewhere in Brussels) biggrin.gif
