Good Morning America - It's the Fourth of July

Have a great one, all you ex-colonials biggrin.gif

For those of you interested in history, our new home is less than 7 miles from Sulgrave Manor, whose owners are proud to possess the ancestral home of George Washington.

Loads of info on the manor website.

And tomorrow is the F1 British Grand Prix day at Silverstone race circuit - just 10 miles to the east of us. Traffic jams are not unknown in this area at this time! And since Brackley is home to the Mercedes team - reportedly the town's second-biggest employer - our little town is hoping for a Hamilton victory tomorrow.

I remember a quote (probably apocryphal) by an Englishman who was touring the US. As he sat on a train, watching the magnificent scenery, he quipped, "Damn George III".  wallbash.gif

Hope all my American pals have a safe and enjoyable 4th. My town did their annual July 3rd fireworks last night and I had a beautiful view from my front porch. First year I can remember that I didn't have to at put a jacket on – it was a beautiful night. The traffic here is ridiculous as tourists by the thousands have poured over to beat the valley heat, so I'm sticking close to home. Fireworks both up and down the road tonight, but I'll stay in and watch Yankee Doodle Dandy with James Cagney.

BTW, my thanks to all my pals over the pond who made this occasion possible. wink.gif

You're welcome  thumbup.gif

Most of you will be celebrating with something more appropriate but I read somewhere they're just having a tea party in Boston    toothgrin.gif
