Unfortunately, many, many people still believe in fortune tellers and people who claim to be "psychic". Amazingly, these SCAMmers still send <
snail mail> to people. The recipients are often single, elderly, living alone, and with little access to the Internet. They cannot accept that these mass-produced letters, addressed to
them,
by name, are not from someone wanting to help them.
Although they don't usually get bilked out of so much money and that just makes it more difficult to get any authority to take their loss seriously. Of course, once they even reply to one of these letters, their name, address, and anything personal they include in the reply, will be used against them. It may be the original SCAMmer or the info will be sold to others in the "business".
