Problem
« on: July 02, 2015, 04:06:04 PM »
I have a problem with my wife's mac - she there some files in the trash, and I wanted to recover them. I made a temporary trash folder on the desktop, and then clicked on the folder, and suddenly had all the windows open - a lot, and suddenly applications like firefox, Skype, word, excel opened.

Then my wife tried to trash them and then kept on turning on and off the Mac, to the extent that I have opened the mac and I have the spinning wheel, the spinning asterisk and cannot do anythink else.

Please advise how I get out of this problem.

First, I'm surprised that the OS even allowed you to create a "Trash" folder!

Second, not sure which OS you (or your wife) is using, but one can usually simply drag anything in the Trash onto your Desktop. There's cetainly no need to create any folders.

Third, you can usually just select an item in the Trashh and use the "Restore" to its original location.

Lastly, this kind of problem is almost exactly why one should never, ever "store" or put things in the Trash. The Trash is for stuff that has spoiled, is dirty, smelly, etc. It is not a place to put things you might want to use again, like Plists... wink.gif nono.gif
