Mac Data Acquisition computers

Does anyone know of any Mac systems used for data acquisition work? I am thinking of getting back into research and like the  ease of use of Mac's.  I used to work putting together systems for research at my alma mater. The equipment was used by graduate students and since Mac's are great for non computer literate people, these would be great for those students. any info would be nice, maybe I am looking in the wrong place. I used equipment from Omega engineering and allen-bradley along with generic pc's.

USFlorida were using them in their marine project, but I heard they had aquired some salt-water proof equiptment not too long ago. I believe Woods Hole Floating Lab also has Macs for floor mapping and themo-data collection, but it's been a while since I was in touch so I'm not sure about today.

The woods hole project is a great example. I used to work for the Animal Science dept. and this would be a great example for them to quit the M$ mentality they have, their computer guy for the professors is a animal sci. grad who only knows M$ stuff.  I was a mini and main frame computer guy (BS  EE grad) trying to get these guy to use real computers, this was in 1990. Again thanks for the info and maybe I can make the Mac tribe a little bigger. More info is greatly Appreciated but thanks for the great start

Thanks sandbox. I didn't even think of these scientic mags on the web, I even used to subscribe to some of these mags. Its easy if the University pays for the subscription and also urges you to get them.
