What are you listening to now?
« on: August 06, 2016, 05:31:08 PM »
Last week I took an extended trip to Charlotte, NC to move my younger son and his bride so she could continue nursing school.  I made a last
minute mistake and neglected to pack my old folder of music CD's.  My old 2005 Highlander doesn't have an audio input for my MP3 player (which
I always have with me in my computer bag) so we hummed, whistled and tried to remember the lyrics to the songs we wanted to sing.  The radio
reception through the eastern mountains is spotty and prone to multi-path distortion but these are some of the CD's I'd have liked to had along:

Lana Del Rey's Honeymoon CD from last fall!

Bob Dylan Compilation "The Best of the Cutting Edge, 1965-1966" which he hadn't decided to be a nasal and nasty as the later commercial stuff.
These are alternate versions and cutting room floor stuff but kind of fun.

East-West by the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

All three of these would've made the mountains pass more smoothly and eased the time waiting on road construction on the Tennessee-NC boarder!  wallbash.gif

What stuff would you want to listen to on an extended road trip?

Uhmn... First, I can't tell you while I'm listening to the radio while traveling because ... I'd be driving and not texting/surfing. Second, I'm at the desktop computer, so I'm not "traveling", so I still can't answer your question.

I don't normally listen to any kind of music while driving/traveling, unless it's a long trip, when I might use of CDs or XM. Locally, I'll have the #2 HD NPR station on, except during "Morning Edition" or "All Things Considered". The #1 station switches to Classical music between those two news broadcasts weekdays. During the week, I catch parts of "On Point", "Fresh Air", "Here & Now", "The World", and on Fridays, "Science Friday". Weekends, however, I try to listen to (the Best of) "The Car Guys", "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me", "Prairie Home Companion" (now reruns only), "Says You", etc.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

You'd have to put a barrier on the western end for that; I will say that I enjoyed your state a lot more than similar trips entirely through Kentucky or across Ohio!
