Junk mail in Sierra?
« on: November 05, 2016, 02:21:25 PM »
Used to be, when you clicked on something in Mail, and then clicked on Junk, from then on, anything from that sender would automatically go to the junk folder; no longer. . . Am I missing something here, or has Mail decided to make me go through a much more convoluted process to get mail from a certain sender get sent directly to Junk?

As usual,  thanx.gif  in advance!

I'd forgot that Mail had any kind of "learning" function like that. I've used Spamsieve for longer than I can remember. Of course, that's not saying much! blush-anim-cl.gif There are settings in Mail's Prefs for controlling it's behavior for those. Perhaps those need some adjustments. What I'm reading seems to imply that most of this filtering occurs in iCloud, not sure it also affects non-Apple mail servers. I'm just a very satisfied SS user. wink.gif

See if any of these tips, work, Beacher:

I've had a few anomalies in Mail in Sierra too - like sticking REAL Paypal notices in the Junk folder (not good, when they're notices of donations from our ratepayer membership!!). Unfortunately, I had scads of fake Paypal scammer emails for a while there (which suddenly seem to have dried up, along with a lot of other spam lately, touch wood) so Mail's confusion is perhaps a bit understandable. It was pretty good at sticking those in the junk folder.
