How do I tell iOS 10 update to "get lost"?
« on: November 04, 2016, 02:03:42 AM »
Every day when my iPad Air 2 is started for the first time I get pestered to install the upgrade to iOS 10. I have iOS 9.3.5 and I like it just fine, thank you... however there is is no option that I can find to tell that message to "leave me alone"! It only gives options to permit the update at night or remind one tomorrow... well... I INSIST I can decide for myself.

Has anyone heard of how to tell the thing to cease and desist?

Last update it was as easy as deleting the update in Settings, but this time it just goes and fetches it again so all the ideas on Google don't work for me anymore.

Thanks....

I think you can change Notifications to 'manual' instead of 'push', but that is probably a global setting. I've already upgraded my iPhone so it doesn't bug me. My iPad can not upgrade past 9, so I don't get any 'reminders'!

BTW, it's already up to 10.1.1. Several Security updates. The best change is the app that lets your devices control Apple TV, I really dislike the Apple TV remote! wallbash.gif

Is there something about 10 that you know will cause problems?

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system
CAUTION! Childhood vaccinations cause adults!

OK... just to let you all know that somehow... I managed to shut the thing down... no more daily pestering!  toothgrin.gif
I'm not 100% sure what worked but I think it was probably on my iPad, in the Settings>iTunes & App Store>Automatic Downloads... I shut them ALL down including Updates. Also in Settings>General>Storage &iCloud Usage>Storage>Manage Storage... in the list of Apps and how much space they use I deleted the iOS 10.1.1 download.

I see that it is in there again now, though I did not get slapped with it when I started the iPad for the first time today... I'll watch for it after midnight again and see. I have the suspicion that the iTunes & App Store setting did more to stop it... not sure yet but I think so.  no2.gif
