From Ipad 2 to a new one...

Hi,

I consider buying a new ipad ..

 but untill a few months as the ipad 2 is  now on IOS  9.3 .5  back up are not possible  on itunes whith my Macboock (  snow léopard...)

Bought some space on icloud but it seems that  apps are not backed up ...

What can i do..?

How can i restore  the whole ipad 2 on the new one.... Thinking.gif

First, you might not want to Restore older versions of an app onto the new one. Rather you would want to update those, iTunes should work to do that.

Secondly, can you back up the old iPad to your computer? That is still an option in the newest (Yosemite) OS and my iOS 9... iPad. However, I can still back up that old iPad to iCloud, also.

All my apps are updated on the Ipad 2...

As i 'm on snow leopard whith my old  macbook , itunes back up is no longer avalaible ...

On Icloud back up  there's something i don't really understand ...

Used space on my Ipad is 30,8 Go ...doesn't reflect the Icloud back up  Thinking.gif

Maybe there's something to do or i made something wrong ?

Not sure what your question is. I assume it is why the amounts used on your iPad (~4.7 GB) and at iCloud (~5.8 GB) are different. It could be that you are "sharing" any images you take with your camera (and any documents you create on the iPad) with iCloud. Since they are on the iCloud 'disk' you can access them without needing to store them in your own RAM. There may also be some historical backups of various things such as the last iOS version you might want to use on a "Restore".

These are simply my opinions. A search on the web for something like "Why is my iCloud usage higher than my iPad?" might be worth while. wink.gif

What i dont understand is  does Icloud back up all the apps like itunes  ..?

As you can see , the Ipad used space is 30,8 Go and the back up on Icloud only 5,8 Go

Maybe misunderstand something ...

Jim, he's used 30GB on his iPad - iCloud only shows 4.7GB used. Hence his confusion.

It doesn't make a full backup - it only backs up your data (pics, emails - that sort of thing). Anything obtained via the App store or purchased through iTunes isn't backed up. It can all be downloaded again when/if you get a new device and connect it to your account.

I'm not sure why backup not available in iTunes - is it due to a mismatch between Snow Leopard and the much newer iOS? I don't know - you'd have to look that up. I always keep everything reasonably up to date, so haven't run into that.

You should be fine - get the new iPad, log into your account, enable iCloud and it will likely prompt you during the setup process to use the backup/synced info. Don't get rid of the old iPad before you've got the new one working properly. wink.gif

As soon as i uptade tp IOS 9.3.5 , itunes backup was not avalaible  whith  my Macbook/snow leopard ...confirmed whith google search but no warning from apple about this problem : -(

It's not very  pratical to download  the apps one by one instead of a full backup....is there another way to get a full backup ?

Don't worry about it - YOU won't have to do very much of anything if you make a back up to iCloud first. Once you start the set up process, it will ask you if you want to restore from an iCloud backup and once you say "yes" it will install all those apps. (it will re-download them - but you don't have to *do* anything manually)

It's really very easy - just make sure you make that backup in iCloud. I got a new iPad this summer - it was painless. It took more time to take off the things on the old one that my husband didn't want (and leave the stuff he did!). wink.gif

Me too! My iPad cannot upgrade past 9.3, either. But I can attest to the ease, at least for the iPhone replacements my wife and I bought last year. Reminded me of the old Apple slogan: "Step 1 ... , there is no step 2!"
