Powerbooks?
« on: July 24, 2003, 04:11:58 PM »
Here comes the oldie but goodie question again. biggrin.gif

Should one wait for the new PBs to come out or get one now (perhaps wait till the new ones pop up and get a lower price on the present ones) that still has the dual boot capabilities?

There are S0ooooo many rumors/speculations floating around about when the new ones will be out and what will be under their hoods.!.

The present PBs do need improvements but everything always need improvements.

Ah...the eternal question...

http://macintosh.fryke.com/cgi-bin/ikonboa...t=ST&f=10&t=155

No timeline, but my guess is we'll see some updates in the fall, at the latest, in that the updates tend to occur ever 6 months or so, and the last bunch were already 6 months ago - and the 15" Ti is a bit overdue for an update in fact (10 months since last speed bump?) - so who knows.

Waiting a couple of months probably won't hurt, to see what turns up.

But it's all speculation, as we all know too well!

Doesn't pay to wait - every time you buy one, a new one comes out.  You can never be ahead of the game!

OTOH

Buying today's latest and greatest just after it becomes yesterday's faded bouquet certainly opens-up some good bargains . . . if you time it right.  biggrin.gif

Wait! Definitely.

New PowerBooks are on the way. They'll probably be released in September.
Apple's machine identification numbers indicate that there will be two new 12" and two new 17" models. And of  course the 15" PB is due for an upgrade.

And even if you decide to go for one of the current models you'll probably get a much better deal.

Read that the new PB 15" will have a 15.4" from the 15.2" somewhere.
Have no idea where though.
Not sure if I like that.?.
