SOLVED: permanently disable voiceover on iPad/iPhone?

? Are you perhaps accidentally toggling it ON by pressing command+F5? Otherwise, as long as it is disabled in Accessibility, I don't know why it would ever turn on. Perhaps you are trying to get a screen capture with shift-command-5 and reach a bit too far for the "5" and also don't press the "shift" and ...

Or, perhaps you have changed the keyboard shortcut to enable it? Use the "Open VoiceOver Utility..." button in the Accessibility System Pref to change the shortcut to something really difficult.

Can you recall how/when it comes ON after you have disabled it?

AH! I've never looked for that in an iDevice, but it is probably in there somewhere. I can assure you that it won't be a command-F5 problem, however!

Only thing I see is in Settings->General->Accessibility->Accessibility Shortcut->"Triple-click the home button for:" and a list of items. Check that "VoiceOver" does not show a checkmark. In fact, you can UN-check all items, just for safety's sake. That seems to completely turn OFF the Accessibility Shortcut.

BTW, "Triple-click the home button for:" is in ALL CAPS, so be careful if VoiceOver is ON when you get to that page!

Thank you, xABD! This was on my really, really old and large iPad and I'd failed to "scroll" down deep enough to find the deselect spot.
