My SuperDuper and DiskWarrior Time Machine backups disappeared from my desktop!

I was leaning over trying to get behind my iMac to dust, and I must have leaned on the keyboard or something and got a message that said something was not ejected correctly so I clicked ok  (I am so frustrated I am inarticulate!) and my icons for my external HD backup and SuperDuper and Disk Warrior and TM both disappeared. I cannot find them. I think I dumped them!  How do I get them back? I did not do any "empty the trash" but they're not there.  SuperDuper cannot do the Smart Update.
I am cussing inside my head.
I found the SD application but I have to mount the volume named SD iMac Backup, which has disappeared.
Help please! I don't know what I'm doing!

The easiest (and often most successful) remedy is to restart. If that doesn't solve it, see below:

I can think of two things to do (in order):

1. Click anyplace on the desktop so that you are in Finder. Go to the Finder menu and select Preferences > General. Be sure that "Show these items on the desktop" has External Disks checked.

2. Launch Disk Utility (it's in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder). If the missing disk is shown, select it and click Mount. Then, it should appear on the desktop.

No luck for either step 1 or 2. My two external HD are still plugged in and have their lights on, if that means anything.

"Plugged in" to what? Obviously they are plugged into the house power.
Are they still plugged into the Mac?
Do they plug into the Mac directly or do they plug into a hub which then plugs into the Mac?

Not much to worry about unless the drives were actually being written to when they lost the connection to your Mac. Although not the safest method, you can actually physically unplug them by just removing the USB cable from the Mac. ;)

The 2 ext HDs plug into a hub, which then plugs into my iMac.

1. Is the hub still powered?

2. Is it still plugged into the Mac?

Yes, hub is still powered, b/c the light is on and someone's home, right?

Here's 3 screenshots of what I get when I click on SD... (I clicked on TM and got a message saying my TM backup disk can't be found)

This is what my desktop used to have on it... how on earth did I totally obliterate these??  The drives don't even show up on the desktop!

Oops, sorry, Jim. Yes the hub is plugged into my iMac.

UH OH!!!! WAIT JUST A MINUTE!!!  DH just came in and said he was trying to help and may have jostled something!!!! I double checked the hub connector thingy and it was NOT pushed all the way in to the back of my iMac. 
Problem solved and hubby is in the doghouse!!!!   :upset:
He is even MORE tech challenged than I am, why he thought he could help is beyond me!  This is embarrassing.... I can embarrass myself all on my own!

I am so very sorry, Jon and Jim, and I thank you for your help!!!!! :notworthy:

Glad our experts got you sorted out.

Coincidentally, I had a problem with an external drive this morning. Was trying to load a video from a window that had been open overnight, and the file couldn't be found. Then realised the external HDD had been switched off last night and I'd forgotten... Sadly I can't blame anyone else, so...   :whoosh:

Now you know why I usually don't let DH anywhere near my iMac (and really, I didn't see him yesterday *trying* to help). I can get myself into enough tech trouble on my own!
