Has anyone read the new PayPal policy updates?
« on: April 05, 2019, 07:03:54 PM »
Just wondering...
Don't seem to affect me as I don't use them when selling, transferring cash to others nor using it in foreign purchases.
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

One reason that I use PayPal is that I can avoid foreign currency conversion fees (I only pay for stuff; I don't sell it). If I pay a vendor in another country with MasterCard or Visa, those card services charge a fee for converting. So, I pay via Discover with PayPal and don't incur that fee. (AFAIK, Discover doesn't do foreign transactions directly.)

Also, in my (thankfully) few disputes with vendors, PayPal has always resolved the issue promptly and to my satisfaction. BTW, I do not maintain a cash balance with PayPal nor do I give it access to my bank account.

Almost everything Jon said (I don't have a discover card, but I have a Visa card hooked to my PayPal acct).  :)

This was a good reminder...I just went and unlinked my bank account from PayPal. Actually didn't realize that this was an option. I don't use it much and always use the credit card anyway. The only downside is that you can't send money to someone without incurring the fees they charge for credit card use, unless you're BUYING something via a merchant who uses PayPal, of course - but for just sending money, there's e-transfer. Or snail mail (cheque/bank draft). I don't think I've sent anyone money via PayPal, other than to buy something from a merchant, ever - or not for eons. So no loss, really. ;)
