I believe this is another review of the studies mentioned above. I thought I had heard a report of this same study recently on Morning Edition. This report (podcast and transcript) is 5 years old but confirms what your linked study shows and quite a bit more about Google's trove on each of us. Additional info on Google's processes. At the very end of this article are instructions to prevent the collection of data if you have a Google account:

visit "My Activity" in your Google account, select "Activity Controls" and de-select "Web and App activity."
I don't see a "My Activity" menu/link anywhere, but when you get to your account, cluck on the "Data & personalization" and you should see "Web & App Activity" under the Activity controls. All the items show "paused" in my account. :)
