Cross Contamination 101
« on: March 16, 2020, 03:30:27 AM »
Hi, Folks,

Sometimes, DH is like a 5 year old.  :wallbash:

It took a while to train him about cross contamination, and the requisite clean up &  disinfecting when working with raw chicken.

I noticed how often DH is touching this and that as he walks through the kitchen from being outside, etc.  I found a cute video so I thought I'd share it here. While we are currently self-quarantined during this pandemic of COVID-19 (our ages and other health issues put us at risk!), DH plans to pick up dinner for Monday evening...and I plan to disinfect him on the porch!

I hope you enjoy it the video -- it's 2 minutes 38 seconds long. If I was still teaching the kiddos, I'd show it in the classroom once a semester, along with how to properly wash your hands.    :)

THANK YOU!!!! I'm sending this to my favorite politician!!! :laughhard:

I think the missing point is that you can't stay "clean" for very long, even if you wash your hands every 30 minutes! :wallbash:

My main problem with ordering out is that it is impossible to know that the food has not been contaminated... whether there is a live virus around or not! That's why we have a designated taster at our house. I usually volunteer for that job; it's better than waiting 24 hours and then eating cold food!! :coolio: :dntknw: :scram:

You're so right, Jim... the politicians need to see this!

Yup, ordering out can be problematic. The food we got tonight was from one of our fave local places, we've known the owner for many years, and the hygiene and best practices there are stellar, both in the front and in the kitchen. She is closed for all but pick up, or GrubHub deliveries...and even before this stay in place self-quarantine, they did a nice takeout business.

As for the other nights when it's my turn, good thing I know how to cook--and I like cooking, too!
Smiles,
Sooz

My older son, an engineer (a group he says already have 'social distancing' well covered) made this studied and typically well reasons response to that vid:

What is she doing spraying corona virus everywhere? Does Trump know it glows? This will change everything.

On a slightly more serious note, here are some definitions that might be helpful during the current confusion:What is the difference between self-quarantine and self monitoring?
