"Jabber" in Contacts?

When I want to edit an entry in Contacts, home (just above the home mailing address) has User Name in gray and then a popup menu that says Jabber. Clicking the up-down arrows shows a range of choices, including Yahoo and Facebook.

What is this? When I'm finished editing and click Done, Jabber is no longer in evidence. However, "FaceTime" appears in the contact window between two lines. What is this all about?

I think it's an older, messaging system. This Wiki page should help explain it. And, if you need more info, there are 50 References to other work.

You may have seen it referenced in iChat... or you may be too young to have used that app...

I have vague memories of the name. OTOH, most of my memories are like that...

We're all awake around here, now. I opened the back door to go water the pots and immediately remembered that the alarm was still set. A loud noise helped me remember... I may try that type of "memory jogger" for other things.

Of course, when the alarm went off, my wife and I started looking for the 'FALSE ALARM, WE"RE JUST (old and) STUPID" code while waiting for the inevitable phone call from the monitoring company. I'm going to print several copies of that piece of paper and place them in other places around the house. I don't want to have to talk to the police, again...

I think I'll just write the code on the alarm controller lid! Probably the last place a burglar would look, anyway.
