Reverse Image Search
« on: August 30, 2020, 05:44:21 PM »
I have to admit I've never done this, I don't think I even knew it was possible. :blush-anim-cl: But I was reading a very l-o– n – g article about how we simply fail to investigate the validity of "news" we take in and there was a mention of this kind of search. Sure, even I know about 'photoshopping' an image, but it may be useful to verify that an image being used to support a view really has some credible connection.

There are several sites that offer the capability to reverse search an image. If you'd like more info, links and suggested apps, try this digitrends™ article How to perform a reverse image search in Android or iOS. There is a video at the top of the page which concentrates on mostly Android, skip it without missing anything significant. (Fortunately, the sound was automatically muted in Safari, so, even if you have auto-play enabled, it won't interrupt you.) And don't worry about the 'mobileness' of the title, there are some web-based sites that will, obviously, work fine on any browser in any OS/device.

Surf safely! Trust but verify!
