What's this iOS symbol?
« on: December 15, 2020, 01:53:54 PM »
My wife shows me her iPad with Notifications, messages and other 'stuff' on the screen and asks me "What is that?" I swipe up, down, left right and can't get rid of the 'stuff' on the screen. She then closes the Apple basic cover.

Opening the cover in a few seconds shows the same screen and all the 'stuff'.

This repeats a few times until I find a few Settings to turn off Notifications. But she then says, "Great, but that's not what I am talking about!" OK, exactly what did "that" refer to? "That note thing... symbol."

Ah, yes. I did notice that thing. But it is no longer showing, so I don't know which of the things I did removed it nor even what it is for! This was a couple of days ago and, AFAIK, that 'thing' has not returned. I've attached a small image below that seems to be similar to what it looked like. It is not the same 'note' that appears on that Apple Music icon (which I removed from my iPhone). AFAIK, she does not have any other music related apps.

Any idea what the "musical note" symbol/icon is/was for? :dntknw:

Thank you!! That first image is it!! I could never get it to return/show manually. I did suggest she was accidentally causing this but I don't like our "dog house" furnishings... It has not happened since those first 'events'. It could be I managed to remove the music player from her Lock Screen. I'm certainly going to remove it from my iPhone as soon as I post this.

It may be that my iPhone's Lock Screen has too many things on it, but my 'music player' is just a square box with a fast forward/reverse and a play button. No indication that it's a even music or video player! :coolio: Since that icon was showing on her larger iPad screen, it may have had the "note" icon? :dntknw:

I'm still a Noob when it comes to these iDevices! I keep looking for a mobile mouse to connect to them. I really like the track pad with my iMac, but an iDevice makes a terrible track pad, IMHO. :wallbash: And who can remember when to use which 'swipe'?! Where are the Command/Option/Control keys?!!! :blush-anim-cl:

I've just now learned that the Lock Screen is not the same as the Today Screen. Can't remember ever really using either one... Still, I'd like to remove some of the 'junque' on the Lock Screen (iOS 14.2, 6S). Oh well, a task for a less frustrating time... :Devilish:
