Solving Computer Woes
« on: June 24, 2021, 09:35:14 AM »
So, you think it is difficult helping solve a computer problem by phone (or with a help site!)? How about working on 30+ year old hardware that's not even on the Earth?!

What problem? Follow the advice of all Microsoft support staff: Reboot the computer. This works especially well if you speak with a foreign accent.

Last week, the BBC ran a documentary 'Goodbye Cassini - Hello Saturn' (from 2017) when the device was sent into Saturn's surface. I can't even start to guess how difficult it was to control it from a billion miles away as it spent 13 years traversing the Saturn system and a total of 20 years in space. A fascinating documentary followed the project's last year or so.

NASA tells the story here
