I did not mess around with Word anything other than what I always do, which is not messing around, but I did selecting a "calendar" document the other day, to make a personal calendar, just for February 2022, for a friend--and inserted a different picture above the calendar days.

I am having a problem with drag-and-drop png on my desktop, and with drag and drop from online pictures (like Home Depot, different cover options for dovering hub's BBQ).  I've tried cut and paste, drag and drop, insert, select etc.  This happened once before but I sure can't find my topic about it.  Sometimes it looks like Word will move text down if I try to insert a png or whatever between text paragraphs, but nothing show up!

Could someone please walk me through this again?  If I recall correctly, it was a really simple fix, with baby steps just for me!  Step-by-step directions, pictures, short sentences, pictures (did I mention pictures are helpful?) maximize my ability to follow directions and achieve success!  Thanks!

Never had Word installed, but in the usual Microsoft UI of make things only a geek would love, try looking at all 173 menu items and icons. When you finished that, I’ ll have had my nights sleep and will look at my wife’s version of Word tomorrow. If you find something like “Place…” you may be getting close… or not. :wallbash:  :dntknw:

It might be best to first drag-and-drop an image onto your Desktop. Rename it something simple, such as “Picture“.

…to be continued. :sleep1:

Good morning,Jim!  You always makes me smile!!!!

Just by total accident, happenstance, and certainly not by divine intervention, I stumbled upon the fact that was looking at Draft View instead of Print Layout View.  Therein, the problem was solved!    Y'know, with all my many non-skills with the computer, I cannot figure how I did that, how I selected Draft View!  It was the weirdest thing that I even noticed and I don't think I've ever used Draft View before, but now I know nothing dragged-and-dropped will show up (I think).  Sheesh!

Sooz

PS: I'm pretty sure this had nothing to do with how it was solved before--as I have neither recognition nor recall of it!

Perhaps you accidentally clicked the "Draft" icon?

[In] the View ribbon, click the icon for Draft. This view displays just the text in your document without margins and page breaks and without images and other visual elements

Everything you ever wanted to know... and this link is just for the "View" functions!
