1.) Does Jaguar allow the user to label icons using color?  

Cuz iffit does, I canna findit, Captain! [the Help file did not mention 'color' and 'folder' in the same sentence anywhere that I was able to find]

2.) I have messed around w/ the new-and-improved Sound Control Panel, but I have yet to hear ANY sound come out of my speakers from the Mac when booted into Jag (whereas in 9.2.2, the Mac is fully, completely, and in all other ways integrated into my stereo system).  What am I missing?

This is not merely an inconvenience (which is the case with my first question), since a part of my livelihood comes from Music and Audio work I perform on the Mac, and if I can't get the sound 'happening' in Jag, then I can't spend much time there.

Datzit fer nau, I'm sure there'll be more to come...

1. Jag (its own self) does not allow colored labels for files and folders. But, the shareware Labels X http://www.unsanity.com/haxies/labels/, that I use, works great. NOTE: Panther will (again) incorporate the use of colored labels.

2. I dunno why the sound is not working. I guess you have been to SystemPreferences/Sound and ensured the volume was up and the sound mute was not enabled on both the Sound Efects and Output tabs. Also, zapping the PRAM may help, as well as Repairing Permissions.

First of all, do you have absolutely NO sound, not even startup? Or is it just with system and software?

The Old World Macs have continuous problems with sound in X and some of the early Beige G3's have had similar problems. At the OWC forum some of the people suggested using PCI sound cards, this software, or the iMic by Griffin.

If you have USB powered sound output you will have to manually select it in the prefs.

In my looking around I found this page which has a lot of good info on putting X on an older G3. He even mentions our Randy's site. smile.gif
