Printing problems with HP 7550
« on: August 18, 2003, 05:31:03 PM »
No matter what I try, I can not get a page to print all the letters on the right-hand side of the page on my HP 7550.  Some of the letters seem to extend beyond what I believe to be the margin, and they are clipped off during printing.  Am I missing something on page setup?  I do not have this problem with my Epson 980. wacko.gif

Check to see if the right printer is select in the chooser (OS9) or print center (OSX).  Also see if the fit to page check box is selected in the print dialox box.

Check the default page format settings of your word processor.  (BTW, which wp?)

That, plus the correct printer setttings, as ljocampo said, could be the culprit(s).

Also, is this a new printer? Have you run test pages (from the HP Utility) to see if it's working properly?

In Page Set Up do you have "standard" set for paper size, or "maximum"?

On my Laserwriter, page setup has a "small letter" and a "letter" size, on my Epsons, page set up gives "standard" or "maximum" and a radio button for "centered"
Do not fear your enemies.  The worse they can do is kill you.  Do not fear friends.  At worst, they may betray you.
Fear those who do not care; they neither kill nor betray, but betrayal and murder exist because of their silent consent.

Finally got the answer.  It was happening only in Appleworks, which I was not aware of, since it is a new printer and I had not used it with any other app.  I had to go to Prefs, Text, and check the box for "fractional character widths". clap.gif
