OS X Font management

Is there a way to designate certain groups of fonts to different applications? In Microsoft Word, for example, to change fonts in a document I have to scroll through a huge list of choices. There are some fonts in there that I will NEVER use. Same issue with Photoshop. Help!-- Joan

Joan, Don't know about Photoshop, but this oughta do it in Word:

1. On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click the Toolbars tab.
2. Click New.
3. In the Toolbar name box, type the name you want (Joan's Fonts???).
4. In the Save in box, click the template or document you want to save the toolbar in.
5. Leave the Customize dialog box open (you might need to move it out of the way), and do one or more of the following:
   •  To add a button to the toolbar, click the Commands tab. In the Categories box, click a category for the command. Drag the command you want from the Commands box to the toolbar.
   •  To add a built-in menu to the toolbar, click the Commands tab. In the Categories box, click Built-in Menus. Drag the menu you want from the Commands box to the toolbar.
   •  To add a custom menu (such as [only] the fonts you want) to a toolbar.
6. When you have added all the buttons and menus you want, click OK.

I guess the easiest thing to do is get font management software like Extensis Suitcase (my favorit) or ATM Deluxe.
Than you can just (de)activate the fonts when you want them or not.
