Supplies: External Antenna, we used the ORINOCO Indoor Range Extender Antenna but you can use a different one as long as it has a MC-Card connector, a Torx#8 screwdriver to open the basestation, and a power drill to drill a hole through the basestation.
The Range Extender Antenna Provides Extra Coverage
The range extension of ORiNOCO products varies based upon physical environment. Range increase is calculated proportionally below based upon 'typical' office environments:
* Range Extender on ONE side of a wireless link (either the client or AP) gives you 50% in open enviornment and 15% in a semi-open enviornment
* Range Extender on BOTH sides of a wireless link (on both the client and the AP) gives you 100% in open enviornment and 30% in a semi-open enviornment.
In Open Environments, there are no physical obstructions between antennas. In Semi-Open Environments, the work space is divided by shoulder-height, hollow wall elements and the antennas are at desktop level.
