Here goes, RHP...
I'll try to explain a couple of things that are happening.
I set up a 'new profile' in 'N/7' in 9 then go to Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings to input any personal info that hasn't been automatically entered correctly as well as the 'Local directory' in Server settings. That box always has 'directions' to go to the new profile info in the Mozilla folder. I change that to direct the program to the old and correct profile that has all my 'stuff' in it.
In X, it adopted that profile with no problem. In 9, the right 'account name' is there but not the mail folders that I've built, only the empty default folders.
Address book: when attempting to import, the correct file is supposed to be 'pab.na2'. That's my old one. The file that has my up-to-date addresses in it is labeled 'abook.mab', which isn't an option to import. I can't figure that one out at all. Have no clue as to why the current one isn't 'pab.na2'
Bookmarks aren't a problem--it will allow me to import 'bookmarks.html' from the correct folder.
Now... for the last bit of information: in Jaguar's 'User' folder, in my 'Home' folder's 'Library' folder is a 'Favorites' folder. [Hope this makes sense so far??
] In that folder is an Alias to my profile in the Mozilla folder in the Documents folder on my 9.2.2 boot partition--the very same one I'm trying to get 'N/7' to use in '9'.
I've never had a difficult time, prior to this, getting it to work. I cannot imagine or figure out why it won't now.
To answer your question, RHP, the above is the reason I don't want to reinstall in Jaguar to get the elusive sites to load. If it were using the correct address book file, then I might consider it. In 9, I've reinstalled a number of times attempting to get it to adopt my profile--no such luck!
I could DL and install the latest 'Mozilla' for 9, in 9 and see if it'll use the correct profile--maybe I'll give that a shot the next time I'm working in that OS. That's a good suggestion!!!
for that as well as your response!!!
I, too, have 100's of bookmarks but not nearly the addresses you do.
