HP all-in-one + X.1.x + problems
« on: October 23, 2003, 03:38:21 PM »
Hey all.

Sorry for the lack of info on this deal, but I know that we're dealing with a Ruby iMac with X.1.x and an HP all-in-one and was just wondering if anyone has had any trouble with setting these things up.

The woman who has the printer and machine tells me her son set it up and may not have installed it correctly.

He phoned me and informed me that he had uninstalled the drivers from the CD and then reinstalled and at this point, when he got to a point in the installer where it asked him to scan the bus for the printer, it didn't pick it up.

I'm thinking a couple of things right off hand (possibly set on a function other than printing or the driver never got unistalled correctly).

I need to know where X stores the files critical to printers. I went digging and found the following path for PPD's - System Folder > Library > Contents > Resources > PPD, but I didn't see anything that was setup on this guy's box here at work as far as printers went.

So where is X storing the printer info?

I'm still hibernating in the world of Classic.

Not sure that I'm going to embrace X as readily as some, so please bear with me. biggrin.gif

Thanks!

Chris

At the begining of the installation it should ask him for the printer series, then it  goes thru install. If it doesn't show up in the scan, then go to the HP Photo and Imaging Director which should have been install in Applications/ Hewlett-Packard/Photo and Imaging Software/. In the imaging director pick settings, choose device and it should say psc  #? series. If not then go to the Utility folder / Print Center and click- add printer, should say HP AiO USB Hiiglight that.  Sorry thats all I can remember about the installation...Good Luck
