Print dialog window is too low on the screen
« on: October 22, 2003, 04:11:41 PM »
Ever since I loaded a new 10.2 into my iMac, and a fresh Lexmark Z32 driver (for OS X), I have had to put up with a Print dialog window which pops up slightly too low on my screen, so that I am forced to raise it about one inch so that I can see the PRINT button to click it.

Can anyone tell me how to overcome this anomaly???

Thanks nels96

Is it in all programs or just one special? If only one, try delete the preferences file for that software.

I get the same thing at times...so, when it happens, I just hit the <return> or <Enter> key.

I had the same problem, but only with Word 10.1.4 on my 17" G4 iMac with OS X 10.2.6 through 10.2.8. However, the problem occurred only when I used a monitor resolution of 800x600 (stretched). It disappeared when I switched to resolution of 1024x768 (stretched).

Same thing on my folks' eMac. I think it has to do with the resolution as stated above. When the window opens in midscreen it is just too large to fit. But it needs to be that size for senior eyes. I suppose you could ask a Unix person to tell you how to change the location of the window as it opens, but then I doubt you want to muck around in the terminal.

I wouldn't. ohmy.gif

Hitting return is OK as long as the settings are what you want. Sometimes I want to change them and have to pull the window up so the drop down boxes don't disappear off the bottom of the screen.
One of those annoyances... sad.gif

thanks to Cyberpet, kps, and krissel,

Cyberpet: Since I am on 10.2.8, using only a Lexmark Z32 which I have reinstalled about three times, I donot think there is a Preference file which I can trash. (One reason I miss OS 9!)

If there is, please let me know where I can find it.
I am beginning to think that the problem lies in the Lexmark for OS X software downloaded from the Lexmark site.

Thanks kps for reminding me that all I have to do is press Return without seeing the Print button!!

And Krissel.. I am already on the highest resolution (smallest screen). Thanks anyway, and yes I have no inclination to mess around inside the Unix arena. No Way!!!

There's some program, forgot the name but something like Print Center Toolkit or something like that, that's supposed to fix printing problems. Not sure it'll help, but there's also preference files for the different software you're having as well. Could start like com.microsoft.Word.plist etc. Look for the preferences in your home folder, library folder and preferences folder.
