What is the cd burning speed of your built in cdrw drives?

Reason why I'm asking is because my brother just bought a 1.2.5. single and I was surprised (just today) to find out it has a max of 32X through toast.

My superdrive has never burned faster than 8x. It's fast enough for me. smile.gif

I should clarify. My 933 came with a pioneer 104 which had a max burn speed of 8X. The drive went out and I replaced it with the pioneer 105 which is maxed at 16X.

I have the same as GMann, Superdrive that burns @ 16x for CDR.

The combo drive is 32x.  That's fast!

From apple's site...

Combo ("Combination") drives (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) have the capability of creating music and data CDs and reading DVD disks.  The drive writes to CD-R at 32x and CD-RW at 10x, reads DVDs at 12x, and reads CDs at 32x.  The drive supports CD-ROM, CD-Audio, CD-R, CD-RW, CDI, CD Bridge, CD Extended, CD Mixed Mode, Photo CD, DVD-Video, and DVD-ROM media.

My game plan was to give or pick up an external speedy burner for my bros new 'puter.

Think the "give" part is out because his internal 32X is faster than any of the Yamaha's I have. smile.gif

AND he can't have my Lacie! biggrin.gif

So I put some cogs in motion for another Lacie 52X.
Just this morning while working IN THE RAIN! YAHOO ~~ FIREFIGHTERS! I made a comment about an external to him.
"Don't need one. If I have to copy a CD straight across, I'll hand it to you and you can do it".
Sheesh. smile.gif

What's the saying about tossing a 'monkey wrench in the cogs". biggrin.gif

When he picked the new puppy up Gary M, I bought him a spindle of blank CD-Rs.
Along with When you have it set up the way you want it, backup .. backup all your stuff!
Figured that hint was enough. Guess not. smile.gif

1) My Lacie 52x showed up today. Works great.
2) So did Panther.
Think I'll sit on that one until I can digest what everyone is saying on the other threads. biggrin.gif
