What passes for "news" in the Bay Area is generally delivered by people who skipped geography in the 5th grade, so it's a tad difficult to know where the fires may be in relation your places of residence.

Are you each/all OK?

I trust the answer will be enthusiastically afirmative.

Fine here RHP.

Though a lot folks in any direction (San Diego, San Bernardino, northern Riverside and LA counties) are hurting.

Too many tragic stories/events has been happening in the last few days.

Here in San Diego City North, we've just got past by the skin of our teeth!
The fire line was visible from our kitchen windows, not more than 5 miles. WOW.gif

Wish all those nearby that got caught in the firestorm all the best that one can wish for in times like this.

Firefighters fighting one fire [one of many] in southern California non stop for at least fifteen hours finely got some relief back up, so they could eat and get some sleep for a few hours.
They were taken back to the 'rear' to a resting place.
Three firefighters then found out that their homes were burnt down from other fires else where.

Dozens upon dozens of stories on the local TV news alone. Many far worse.
Many far, far worse not mentioned by the media. <no smily here>

Also heard from June Drabek. They're OK up in their mountain retreat, thank goodness.

Last night it rained all night and a little today where I hang my hat.
By some of the news stations it rained in some other areas as well.
From what I can tell, it has helped with the fires a bunch!

Don't know if it was luck or what (very rarely have late October rains) but ... smile.gif biggrin.gif smile.gif

Saw on the news tonight that they're making some good headway finally!

There's a couple of galleries on Pbase in the "popular" galleries full of pictures... unbelievable...

There's an awful lot of fond memories for me in the San Diego area... hate to see it this way.
