Safari 1.0 (v85.5)
« on: November 08, 2003, 12:55:48 PM »
This is on my B&W Mac, seems lately Safari has the quitsies problem.  Multiple times daily.  Each time I cleared the cache, but after a while it'll quit again.  This is not the case on my MDD G4, it has been running excellent there.  OS on both Macs is X.2.8.

Bruce, I know you've been having this same problem, has it subsided on your end?  Any new news regarding the quitsies. doh.gif

Anyone, any tips for what I should try to alliviate this?

No, no Panther for me yet.... Got the new OS spooks at this time. eek2.gif  Will try in a little while.... Got the partitions all ready for it.

Any suggestions about what I could do while I'm still using Jaguar for my B&W for Safari quits?

Well, if it's going to be awhile before you can upgrade, you could go back to 10.2.6. The update to 10.2.8 is not an essential update. In my opinion, it introduced more problems than anything.

The short time I used it, I was on the phone with AppleCare at least three times trying to troubleshoot problems.

eek2.gif I'm not sure where to start to downgrade this Mac to X.2.6... lol... To much is on it to go back.

I just ran permissions and am hoping it will help.  I noticed that it repaired some permissions for Shockwave plugin components.  Hmmm......

What I found while running OS 10.2.8 is that system errors seemed to creep up spontaneously. I did my best to keep up with maintenance, but it was frustrating.

I have never attempted to downgrade a system. I have seen some discussion on MacFixIt forums, but I haven't taken the time to try and understand the procedure.

From what I can remember, downgrading requires that you go back to the original Jaguar installation, then do the combo upgrades to version 10.2.6.

Whether you can do an archive and install going backwards or not is a mystery to me.
