Firewall 400 and 800 Problems

No estimates of frequency of problems with Firewall 400 and 800 drives with Panther have appeared, only posts to various sites, mainly from those who have experienced disasters. For a non-random sample of the Mac Universe, TS members may provide a clue to extent of problem.

Have two drives, don't dare to use the FW800 one since the vendor is still debating if it's a problem or not. The LaCie drive (FW400) is now updated with new firmware and I hope it's working fine, but I still feeel a bit insecure and afraid to use the drives since I don't want to lose 3 years of digital images.
