I have Jaguar 10.2.8 and sometimes when I connect to the internet I have this rainbow looking disc that keeps spinning and never allows me to connect to the web site I want to go. I have to force quit and start over again.  Thanks in advance.

There are so many possibilities here...

Do you mean that your browser 'locks up' and becomes completely unresponsive when you go to certain websites?

After you 'force quit and start over', does it work OK then?

With what browser?

Is this only with certain specific websites, and does it happen every time you 'go there'?

If so, have you tried to visit that website using a different browser?

It's entirely possible that the problem is with the web page design / code, and not with anything on your computer.

If not, it might just mean that the website server is too busy at the moment to respond to your request.

Can you post the URL (or directions for how to get) to a page that causes this for you, so that we can try it and see if it's them or you?

I am using Internet Explorer 5.2 This problem doesn't happen on one particular web site or every time I go on the internet, but it happens enough to where I thought it might be a problem. The page I go to simply doesn't download... the multi color disc appears, keeps going and going, and I know I have to force quit and go back to that page. When I go back to that particualr web site it usually works. It's happened on latimes.com, ebay.com,  and some others I just haven't kept track. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Switching to Apple's browser Safari is one option...

I had similar experiences with IE 5.2, seemingly on a daily basis.  Since I switched to Safari my Internet surfing has been nearly trouble-free, and that includes websites that crashed IE every time.

In fact, today Safari crashed for the very first time, and I have been using it heavily for weeks now.  I'm talking a LOT of different websites... In that same time period IE would have crashed numerous times.

BTW, that spinning rainbow disk is commonly referred to as a "beachball."
