Printing Issue on Jaguar 10.2.4
« on: March 06, 2003, 05:15:00 PM »
I just installed Jaguar 10.2.4 and can't print. I have tried everything short of taking a sledgehammer to the printer. When I go to print it says "stopped". I try to delete jobs then start jobs and still nothing. I turn the computer off then on again and it still won't print. When I go back to OS 9 I can print no problem. Thanks in advance for the help.

You can try deleting the Epson from the Printer List in Print Center, then log out, log in, open Print Center and add the Printer.

This happened to me once early on & I discovered that the print queue was on "stopped."
Turn printer on.
Go to Applications/Utilities/Print Center. Open Print Center & check. It may be stopped as mine was.
Good luck.

I think daffy is on the right track. When the print queue is stopped in OS X, it takes a manual press of the start button to get going again. It can get stopped if the button is accidently pushed, the printer runs out of paper or ink in the middle of printing, or you cancel your print job in the middle. Kinda sensitive if you ask me.

Every time it happens, I just open the Print Center and start up the queue. Works every time.

Thanks for the help.

I just received a response from Epson and there is not yet a driver compatible with an Epson Photo Stylus 750 for the Jaguar 10.4.2 software. Therefore, Epson said my printer may or may not work.

Ronald, You may try the highly rated freeware Gimp Print 4.2.5. It contains a print driver for the Epson750. http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/

RonaldP.
I just went into Library/printers/epson and saw that mine jumped from the 740 to the 760.

Looks like your response from Epson was correct.

When you say you installed 10.2.4, did it work with a previous version of OS X or have you installed Jaguar? I guess the former.
Apart from turning the computer on and off and the options above, I've found a way out of trouble is to switch the printer off, wait for 30 seconds at least, and switch it back on again.
