No doubt some think Apple was a bit (or a lot) slow, but that they are doing it all is a wonder. As for me, I say Bravo!

I have also placed my order but before doing so I contacted the store who supplied the machine and the have agreed that I pay the shipping cost and they will pay for the Apple service engineer to replace the power unit.
I think it unfair that Apple admit that there is a problem but do not offer to put their money where their mouth is and pay for the installation of the unit.!

That's a good deal, George!

When I had some warranty hardware replacement work done on my G4, I didn't take it back to the store where I purchased it. I did some investigating and found an Apple certified computer service center to take it to instead. I should call them to find out if they would do the same for me.

I'm looking forward to doing the swap myself.

Looks like fun.

This downloads the PDF instructions.

Kelly,
I take it you have one of the mirrored door models. Which do you have? I'm deciding which to buy and I want to be able to boot into OS9.
How loud is it?

Actually, I am too.

My friendly Apple certified technician called me today to ask me if I had heard about the exchange. I told him yes and asked him if he planned to do the swapping for me.

"For a FEE!", he said.

Then I told him I was planning to do it myself all the time.

"Due to an unexpected supply delay, limited quantities of the kits will begin shipping at the end of March 2003".
