Hello all you lovely people.

I find myself in the predicament of having to use a PC at work suddenly

but am having problems, surprise, surprise (why can't everyone just use Macs?). Can anyone tell me the PC equivalent of starting up with the extensions off (holding down shift on start-up)?

If anybody can answer my little question you'll make my day!

Try pressing the F5 or F8 Key at Boot Up.

I am not a PC user, but it is my understanding that PCs can boot in to SafeBoot mode (similar to OS X) by restarting while hold down the Shift key. SafeBoot is not exactly the same as starting without extensions, but it's close in that only the essential OS ingredients are loaded.
