Consumer's Re-port
« on: February 03, 2004, 06:25:08 PM »
In case anyone's interested in "networking" without a smidgen of hassle, I recommend NetGear Powerline Adapters **, as an alternative to airport and some of its reported vagaries, or stretching more ethernet cables..

Imagine, getting a network as easily as when you first plugged in a your Mac . . . anywhere in your domicile!

If you have  a router, - - and a dwelling illuminated by something other than candles or oll lamps  - - merely 2 NetGear adapters is all it takes to move any computer you might have "established" somewhere else to wherever you might enjoy surfing, as yers truly is doing at this  moment.

Highly recommended.

** Got 'em for a good price from Amazon, today . . .Here

So do you have them and they work? smile.gif

Or you're just anticipating? smile.gif

Working like charm, to coin a phrase, Kelly biggrin.gif

It took longer to open the carton they were shipped in than to "set-up the network!"

As I type this, I'm sittting at the other end of the house from my office location, very much enjoying the view of SF Bay. biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

And, as was the case of my NetGear Router, no sw install was necessary - - I just plugged 'em in. Software for a "bridge" appears only necessary/desirable for someone living in an apartment house, for example, who might be  interested in some encryption of the signals zipping around the structure's wiring.

Each bridge came accompanied by a 6 ft. ethernet cable. Pretty neat.
