Is this the end of my Lacie FW burner?
« on: March 21, 2003, 05:39:00 PM »
Getting error messages: hardware failure, tracking error. Before that was getting a lot of media failures.
Id there wanyway to correct this? i guess in today's world, there is no repair just trash and cash.
Ive had it a few years and it has burned many many Cds.
But if it is gone, i doubt i'll go back to lacie, any ideas for a Firewire burner?
I'm a on a BWG3, jaguar.

The answer is yes. i called them. they suggested trashing prefs but that didnt work.
But you know, maybe i should take this as a sign and reassess things. There's a whole world outside of this stinking little room and there has to be more to it that burning bootleg CDs i'll never listen to. So maybe it's time to trash the whole setup and ...
Im thinking Plextor, are they Mac/FW friendly?

An even bigger question: Should it be a DVD burner?

Can't help you with your Philosophical questions.

But as to a CD Burner. I'd start here.

Yamaha has apparently gone out of the Burner business.

You could go with a DVD Burner.

But an External DVD will not support iDVD.

I'll probably buy one of the Lite On Internals for my Dual Gig MDD some time.

Although, for the moment, my La Cie SCSI is still going strong.

Checking on lacie dvds i see they recommend 800mhz for burning dvds. so with a 400 BW, i guess it's a cdrw and probably another lacie.
