Is PageMaker dead?

Years ago, I used PageMaker as my main layout and design program.  I have been away from graphic design programs for awhile now but have noticed very little mention of PageMaker these days.  Has InDesign replaced PageMaker?  Does PageMaker have a future?  I really liked the program.

Of course, the biggest difference of all is that PageMaker is not available for OS X. You can run it in Classic of course, if you're a bear for punishment.  I've heard that Adobe has no plans to produce an OS X version. If that is indeed the case, then it is essentially dead.

They are offering $299 competitive upgrades to InDesign - which is a far superior program.

PageMaker (known in the professional prepress industry as "PageMauler," "PageRaper," "RageMaker," and "WageTaker") is still available for sale, but it has been "Product End of Lifed" by Adobe.

What this means in English is that Adobe is no longer upgrading it or providing programming resources for it. Which means, among other things, that it's very unlikely there ever will be an OS X version.

So; You can buy it if you want, but effectively, it's a dead program. Which is not a bad thing; by modern standards, it's clumsy, underpowered, and primitive.
