Identifying a HDD ?

To all, I have aquired a hard drive but am unable to identify size or type.
The information on the label reads;

Power required 5/12V       680/300mA

HP quantum fireball 3.5 series

c/h/s   2112/16/63    1080 mb at disk drive

HP P/N D2919-60101 (D2919A)

It appears to be an IDE 39 pin but the odd thing about it is that where the jumper pins are there is only a straight line of three instead of the usual double bank of six or eight.
No date as to how old!

It may be glaringly obvious to the well informed, to me it ain't
Any ideas?

I believe it's a one Gig IDE Drive George.

The copyright on the spec sheet is 1997, so I'd guess that this is about the vintage of the drive as well.

One thing I noticed - the spec sheet I referenced has the SCSI drive at 50 pins and the ATA drive as 40 pins. The one on the Quantum web site appears to be reversed (and incorrect) - there are no 40 pin SCSI cables/connectors as far as I know (50 & 68 being the standard). Your drive is the ATA version - this model came in both SCSI & ATA.

c/h/s 2112/16/63 means 2112 cylinders, 16 heads, 63 sectors per cylinder.

1080 mb means 1,080 megabytes (slightly more than 1 gigabyte)

at disk drive means IDE/ATA disk drive.
