Can\'t play downloaded .rm clip
« on: March 26, 2003, 04:45:00 PM »
I downloaded a .rm cmovie clip via Internet Explorer. The download worked but the clip would not play with an error message that RealPlayer was missing something or that there was insufficient memory.

I am using IE 5.1.5 under OS 9.2.2. All the RealPlayer helpers with suffix .rm , etc. refer to RealPlayer. My RP version is Real Player Plus version 6.0.9.584.

Perhaps my version is too old (it was created in early 2001). Is there a later version? If so where can I find it?

Also, an ancilary question. Why do all the plug-ins  in the PlugIn folder in IE have Netscape icons? Are ther any dedicated IE plugins or do the plugins work with both Netscape and IE?

Apple introduces Xserve cluster configuration

I think this has been told before.

"t is ironic that Xserve is being used in clusters, since Apple and Cray have something of a history together. Legend has it that Steve Jobs walked into Cray Research back in the 1980s and asked for founder Seymour Cray. Steve informed Seymour that he had come to buy a Cray to use in the design of the next generation Macs. At this point, everyone who has told me this story breaks into laughter. This event is apparently humorous because Cray supercomputers are custom-built for each purchaser and prices start in the millions. After the contract was signed and money changed hands, Seymour congratulated Steve, shook his hand, and told him that it was only fitting that Apple should be buying a Cray to design the Mac, since Macs were used to design the Cray.

Kelly,

Thanks much for the info. The URL you refered me to was for RP for OS X and right now I am in OS 9.2.2. I boosted the memory in my current RP and hope trhat will solve the problem.

Got a big kick out of the Cray-Apple story. Thanks for that.

No MM. That's to the OS 9.x version.

But when you try to get it it refers to the OS X version.

Here it is.

RealPlayer 8
