17" Powerbooks delivery delays?
« on: March 27, 2003, 11:32:00 PM »
A friend of mine ordered one when they first were introduced.
Was supposed of been shipped (or delivery date ?) on 3/19.
He called Apple to see what was going on and was told they're a few days or week behind.
Fine. Not that big of a deal.
I just found out that he checked and it's shipping is now 4/25!
He figured a typo perhaps. So he's letting it slide for a few days till he makes another call.

On the one call though he/she mentioned something about the power supply replacements for the 'wind tunnel' machines have also been put back till the middle of April instead of the end of March.
I've read that some folks have received the replacement PSs,so I'm taking a guess here that they [Apple] ran out from their supplier. The old backorder gig.

1) Does anyone know of anybody that has ordered those monster 17" PBs or ordered themselves and have received their order?

2) Has anyone here received their power supply replacement yet?

Good thing I cooked up a philly sand before clicking into your links.

Man! Those folks can yack.

Seems the fan part is now more of an issue these days.
Although I thought it always was the main and the PS was a secondary.

Maybe I skipped right by it ... could [edit] NOT [end edit] find anything on the 17"PBs?

Reading a bunch of the posts at the links provided by Kelly just reinforces my impression that buyers of any Apple Revision A hardware are either brave or foolish.  I'm glad that other people are in such a hurry to get the latest hardware that they will work out the bugs, not me...

Update.

"Note - the original Apple exchange page I quoted in the Feb. 21st news noted "Prepaid return airbill and instructions for returning the original components to Apple "  - but the paperwork in the one kit seen so far has a "Parts Disposal" page that says "The parts you have replaced as part of this exchange program should be disposed of in accordance with local laws." The Apple exchange info page no longer notes a return shipping requirement.:
