Uses for old system disks/cables/mice?
« on: February 06, 2003, 07:53:00 AM »
Seems I'm hoarding dozens of SCSI cables. And serial cables. Old system install disks (7.5) still sealed in their packages, manuals for older versions of software I no longer use (Photoshop 3.0, 5.0, even 6), Claris, Word 5.1 etc. etc. Any suggestions other than cramming them in smaller boxes and placing them on higher shelves? It seems like such a waste, technology advances and the debris piles up.--Joan

Let's see you could donate them to a school or a church, especially the software. See if anyone at TS wants them. Of course, there is always e-bay, it's amazing what people will buy. One man's junk is another man's treasure.

Forget higher shelves - - - My basement is the most expensive room in my house and I can barely walk around in it.

If you have numerous cables you might send off an inquiry to < sales@b-and-a-computer.biz > attn: Jerry Oakley.  (B&A Computer is a specialized reseller of old Mac Cables.)

By the way - do you have an old 6' or 10' ethernet cable hanging around??

Got to be careful with Photoshop unless it's new in the box - it'll be a lightning rod for anyone trying to identify with Adobe later on.

Ebay is always a last resort - however as I can attest - It's a lot of work just to empty a shelve and if your're lucky you'll recoup shipping costs.

Wishing you the best in your efforts.

Not an ethernet cable in the lot, as luck would have it.  And I was referring to the manuals for photoshop, word, etc. I wouldn't let the disks out of the house. I'll contact b&a, see if they will take them off my hands. You're right about eBay, I don't want to take the time to get rid of them that way. I know it's a last resort, however. Thank you for your suggestion, Joan
